Kauai-Day Six

It was beautiful weather and we knew we wanted to go back to the "rainy day beach", so we made the muddy, BUMPY trip back. It was so worth it! We watched locals surf and we enjoyed the sun and the beautiful scenery.

Driving through the "Tunnel of Trees" road.

Kipu Falls

We hiked to Kipu Falls and enjoyed jumping off the falls and the rope swing. It was awesome!

Kauai Sunrise

Our last morning there Allen and I headed out early to catch the sunrise.

This is the shore line around where we stayed.
We had such a great time. It was so nice to get away, just the two of us. We are so grateful for my Mom, Dad, Rachel, and Paul for taking such good care of our kids. We were able to completely relax and enjoy being together. Thanks Devin and Ariane for all of the fun and laughs!

Easter

Yes I know it is the end of May, but Easter was the day before Allen and I left for Hawaii. No worries, I am getting caught up!

We had a lot of fun coloring eggs. Rylee was so excited and is still asking if, we can paint more eggs today.

It seems like it has been a few years since we were able to have a outside easter egg hunt. The weather was good and the kids loved finding eggs at my Parents house! There are a lot of good hiding places!

Help from Mom.

Rachel and Paul were great finders.

We had a really nice day and then got the kids settled and headed home to leave for Hawaii the next morning!

Another Outstanding Performance!

They worked, and worked, and worked.

Porter drilled, sanded, weighed, lubed, painted, and finessed!

Then he raced! And he did great! 1st place in the 9 year old
group and 2nd place overall! He was so excited. Good job Porter! What a great Pinewood Derby!

He's 9!

That's right! 9! He is growing up SO fast!
We had a fun time celebrating with my Parents. My Dad has been so excited to give Porter this special surprise that involved giving my consent. I knew when he called before he bought it to ask permission I was in trouble!
You might recognize the shape of the box. All of a sudden I felt like we were living in the Christmas Story Movie!
All I can say is he better not shoot his eye out!
Porter was so excited! My Parents live in the forrest, so the BB gun is a fun thing to keep at their house and safely use it with no other houses around :) He did get some safety glasses to help with the whole "shooting your eye out" thing!
In true "Porter fashion" his very first shot hit the soda can square in the middle!
Star Wars cake this year.

What a fun day! He felt very loved by everyone who called, sent cards, emailed, and sent gifts. He has seemed to grow up a lot this last year. 3rd grade has brought some new stages and adventures. He is the best brother in the world and we all think he is the BEST!
Happy Birthday, Porter! We love you!
