Happy Halloween!!

My Mom and Dad came up for Halloween this year. My Dad loves Halloween and loves to decorate, but they live in the forest and they don't get trick or treaters! So we asked him to come up and decorate our front yard.

He didn't disappoint! The kids were so excited. The snow worked out pretty well to build up the graves. All of the kids and adults that came by loved it.

Porter and Sidney weren't sure they wanted to go trick or treating, they really just wanted to watch out the window and push the remote controls for the scary music and pop up zombie. Luckily the weather warmed up and even though there was lots of snow the side walks and driveways melted and it wasn't too cold to enjoy walking around the neighborhood. The kids said it was the "Best Halloween Ever!"

Fun in the Snow

You gotta love Colorado! We had a big fall snow storm and ended up with about 20 inches of snow. School was cancelled for 3 days and we loved every minute of it! Porter and Sidney jumping off of the trampoline into the snow after we shoveled all the snow off.

Halloween morning was fun. I love it when Halloween falls on a Saturday! The sun was out and it was about 60 degrees. The snow was melting fast but there was still plenty to go sledding and build a snow man. You didn't even need a coat to be outside. I was cooking in the kitchen with the windows open and laughed when I looked out and watched the kids building the snow man.

Carving Pumpkins

The kids have been so excited to carve pumpkins this year. We were all a little more excited since we grew our own pumpkins! This was our first year that all the kids would reach their hand inside! Rylee is our first that would touch the insides at her age.

She was hilarious! I helped her carve her pumpkin while the other kids were still getting started. It didn't take long since she insisted on having the, "tiny, tiny, baby punkin". So she had some time to kill while she waited for everyone else to carve their pumpkins.

So she cleaned it with a paper towel for about 15 minutes. Then, while I was helping Sidney I looked over and realized that she was loading all the seeds back inside her pumpkin! She had fun playing around and was so excited to show off her pumpkin.

Porter and Sidney did a great job and carved their pumpkins all by themselves this year. They followed the pattern and are very happy with how they turned out!

Go Nuggets!!

We went to the opening home game for the Denver Nuggets. They were playing the Utah Jazz, it was a great game.......and we won!! My Mom and Dad went too which made it extra fun for the kids. Just call us "parents of the year" since the game didn't start till 8:30 p.m. and we drove there in the middle of the BIG snow storm! But the kids had a great time and we were able to see our GREAT friend, Rocky! We have known Rocky for quite a few years, he was our back yard neighbor for a while. We texted him and told him where we were sitting and he came up to say Hi.

They gave out these blow-up sticks that you bang together while cheering for the Nuggets. They are VERY loud........the kids loved them ALL NIGHT LONG!

Rocky, you're the Best! Rylee was more interested in where Rocky was all night than watching the game, but she was really good and enjoyed cheering really loud.

The game ended at 11:30 and we didn't get home until about 12:45 a.m. Sidney almost fell asleep with about 15 min left in the game. Porter and Sidney fell asleep in the car, but Rylee was going strong all the way home and was still talking about her friend Rocky we she went to bed at 1:15!

Our Super Duper Week! (Or when Keri comes to CO!)

Allen's sister Keri came to visit for a week and we had SO much fun! We packed in as much fun as we could into 7 days!

When she first arrived the temperature was about 20 degrees! Let's just say a sweat shirt, 2 blankets, and a space heater later and she still wasn't warm! Luckily it warmed up and we enjoyed some nice sunny days.

We went shopping, out to lunch, to the zoo, to the aquarium, out to dinner, to Casa Bonitas (yes, this deserves it's own mention, separate from regular dinner!), to Sidney's ballet class, to Porter's football game, not to mention lots of staying up late and making good desserts!

Porter and Sidney got their faces painted at the aquarium for the first time ever! They were loving it. Poor kids, who hadn't had their faces painted before they are 8 and 6 years old!! Seriously, who are their parents!

Feeding the sting rays. There were some seriously BIG sting rays! I was a little nervous someone was going to loose an arm. But luckily all that happened was a lot of splashing thanks to the kid next to us who was holding his fish out of the water so that the sting rays had to propel themselves out of the water to get it. It was freaking me out!

You gotta love Casa Bonitas!! We had so much fun with Keri. We were all begging (yes literally begging) her to stay longer! We love ya Keri!

Trip to Utah

The Farm.....and a little hockey

Sidney had her first official kindergarden field trip. That girl was SO excited! The field trip was to Miller Farm which is North of Denver, quite a long bus ride. I don't know if she was more excited about the farm or her first bus ride! They went on a hay ride, picked their own vegetables, picked a pumpkin, played on the hay stack, and had lunch. It was a very busy and long day for half day kindergartners. Instead of getting out of school at 11:35 on a normal day, they didn't get done until 3:30! There were some tired kids on the hour bus ride back, but I think they all had a great time.

We went to a Avalanche Hockey game and had a blast. The kids love any sporting event and are always really good. They really enjoy all the excitement and everything going on, and we WON. Go AVS!
