I was scheduled to be induced on the 18th. The plans were made and we were enjoying spending this Martin Luther King Jr. day with the kids and Allen off from school and work. We played and ran some errands and decided to take the kids out to dinner and then home to watch Cars 2 as a family. I had been having a lot of contractions for the last few weeks so I didn't think too much of it when I noticed I was having some as we were driving to dinner. We went to Steak and Shake, by the time we got our food I wasn't feeling very hungry and I was ready to get home and lay down. So we headed home after the kids finished eating. But not before stopping at a friends house to drop off something that we had borrowed....I needed to get everything done on my list!
We came home and got everyone snuggled in a cozy spot to watch the movie. I laid on the couch and was really looking forward to relaxing. I quickly realized that the contractions were not stopping and were definitely getting stronger. After a little while I walked upstairs and that is when they started to get really bad. I told Allen we needed to go and called my Sister to come and stay with the kids and my Mom to meet us at the hospital. I tried to get the kids calmly settled in bed. I told Allen we couldn't wait for my Sister to get here, it had started snowing and I told her not to drive too fast! So we called our friend Shauna down the street to come over.
Allen started shoveling the driveway.....I told him to stop it and get in the car :) Then I realized that I forgot my purse as we were pulling out of our neighborhood, so we quickly grabbed that and started out to the hospital. Once we were in the car, I was really wishing we had left much earlier! The contractions were really intense and right on top of each other. The car is not a comfortable place to be in that situation! We had the classic very intense, white knuckle drive to the hospital!
Our doctor called us back before we got to the hospital and told us he would have everything ready and waiting for us. When we got there I told Allen to leave everything in the car and get inside! We actually left the car parked in the emergency drive up lane. We got inside and they quickly sent us upstairs. My Doctor was awesome and met us walking in to labor and delivery. He had the anesthesiologist and nurse waiting in the room. They quickly got to work, I was dilated to a seven and my water broke while they were putting in my IV.
My mom got there shortly after that and things moved pretty quickly. We arrived at the hospital at 9pm and he was born at 10:57!
He was a little raspy a few minutes after he was born so the neonatal nurse came in and luckily just watched him in our room with us for a little while. He looked great and I am so grateful that he didn't need to go to the NICU.
We are in love!! We totally soaked up every second! I talked my nurse into letting me go in a wheel chair to the nursery with Allen to watch his bath before I got settled in my room. He is such a beautiful, sweet, and calm baby!

The kids were so excited to wake up the next morning to hear that their new brother was here! My mom and sister brought them over that morning to meet him. We hadn't really decided on a name before, so they were anxious to find out what to call him!

We had a really nice time in the hospital. I wanted to remember our room :) I love the time with just Allen and the new baby. Allen is great at taking care of us and we both just get to hang out and hold our baby the WHOLE time!

We are so excited and grateful that Jax is here safe and sound. I am so grateful for all of our friends and family that have helped us and set love and well wished. We are all looking forward to lots of snuggling and cuddling with our sweet little Jax!
